You are invited to participate at the 15th International Congress for Stereology and Image Analysis (ICSIA 2019) to be held at Aarhus University, Denmark on May 27-30, 2019.

The congress homepage is published (http://conferences.au.dk/icsia2019) and registration opens December 1st, 2018. The conference will focus on the transition from qualitative to quantitative descriptions of images from a range of imaging modalities in biology/medicine and materials science using stereology and image analysis including artificial intelligence. ICSIA 2019 will include virtual materials design and reconstruction of microstructures investigated by quantitative microscopy, MRI, PET and other advanced imaging platforms. Time will also be devoted to the development of advanced statistical/computational methods and the application of such methods in image analysis. ICSIA 2019 will put to test the development and use of methods for quantitative studies of structures from the atomic and molecular level up to a grand scale at the highest scientific level.

ICSIA 2019 will comprise invited presentations, minisymposia, free presentations and poster sessions. PhD-students, who are members of The International Society for Stereology and Image Analysis (https://www.issia.net/), have the possibility to apply for Hans Elias bursaries supporting participation in ICSIA 2019.

The social activities will include a nice welcome reception and a wonderful conference dinner at The ARoS Aarhus Art Museum, which delivers ground-breaking works from some of the world’s most progressive artists. Aarhus represents the youngest population in Denmark which brings a vast supply of vibrant city life, cultural events and shopping opportunities. The past is brought to fascinating life at the Moesgaard Museum, while The Old Town Museum offers unique reconstructions of entire neighbourhoods through three centuries from all over Denmark. Denmark’s second largest city is on the move, and with the title “European Capital of Culture” in 2017, Aarhus gets top rankings at Vogue, Lonely Planet, CNN, National Geographic and Momondo, as a “must-visit” destination. In 2018 Aarhus is “The European Volunteer Capital”, and the city has recently been recognized as European Region of Gastronomy.

Please also remember that ICSIA 2019 will be followed by the 20th Workshop on Stochastic Geometry, Stereology and Image Analysis June 2-7, 2019 at Sandbjerg Estate, Denmark (http://csgb.dk/activities/2019/sgsia2019/).

Aarhus is reachable with one-stop transits from more than 530 destinations worldwide. The two international airports “Aarhus” and “Billund” connect Aarhus to a wide range of main European cities such as Paris, Brussels, Frankfurt, London, Munich and Amsterdam.

We will be very happy to welcome you in Aarhus on May 27-30, 2019, and provide to you the best environment for the exchange of ideas and initiation of collaborations within and across research fields.
